Who it's for

Too many Gmail accounts? Read all of them in one list, reply from each

Gmail lets you have as many accounts as you have reasons. What it doesn't do on the web is show them together.

Multiple Gmail accounts work well when each identity stays separate but your daily decisions don't.

Google is good at the first half. Create as many accounts as you have reasons, each with its own storage and security. The second half, one answer to "what needs me today", is what Gmail on the web never quite gives you.

What Gmail offers

Account switching. Click your profile picture, pick another account. Fine for two. A loop for five.

All inboxes, on mobile. The Gmail app on Android and iPhone combines every account you've added into one list. It's free and good. There's no equivalent on the web.

Multiple Inboxes. Up to five search-based sections inside one account. Useful, but it never shows a second account.

Separate Chrome profiles. One window per identity, with its own passwords and extensions. Strong separation, and five windows.

Gmailify and POP fetching. These pulled another account's mail into one Gmail on the web. New setups stopped in early 2026 and existing ones end in January 2027. What breaks and what survives. Google's replacement, forwarding from the other provider, isn't free everywhere.

When switching stops working

Check work Gmail. Switch to personal. Switch to the side project. Search all three because you can't remember where the thread landed. Repeat after lunch.

By then what's scattered isn't your mail. It's your decisions about it.

What a merged stream looks like

Every Gmail account in one list, on the web, the desktop app and Android. Each row tagged with the account it came from.

Two tabs above: Needs you and Other, split by a triage layer that read every message as it landed, with a reason on each row. A label you care about, a client or a side project, can become its own split beside them.

One search covers all of them, and matches meaning as well as words. One rule, written as a sentence, runs across every account or just one. Replies go out from the account the message arrived in.

Nothing about your Google accounts changes.

The setup for five Gmails

  1. Keep recovery details and two-step verification separate per account, as you already do.
  2. Connect each one through Google's consent screen. No app password; a revocable token per account.
  3. Turn on label write-back per account only if you want your labels and Zero's tags to show in Gmail too. It's off by default. Done and Not for me add a MorningZero label in Gmail either way.
  4. Keep the Gmail mobile app on an iPhone. All inboxes is right there and free.

The price

Solo: $19 a month, or $15 billed yearly, for five mailboxes. A sixth is $3 a month. The plan counts mailboxes, not providers.

Gmail itself is free, and for one or two accounts it should stay your answer. Gmail vs a unified layer goes through where free stops.

What it won’t do

The limits, before you find them yourself.

It won't merge your Gmail addresses into one. Each stays its own account with its own settings, storage and two-step verification.

It won't help you create accounts or get around phone verification. Google's checks exist for a reason.

It won't replace Gmail's spam filter or its storage.

No iPhone app. On an iPhone, Gmail's own All inboxes view is free and good.

Questions

Asked often enough to answer here.

How can I see all my Gmail accounts in one inbox?

On the phone, the Gmail app's All inboxes view. On the web, Gmail only switches between accounts. A unified layer shows every account in one list on web, desktop and Android, with search, triage and rules across all of them.

Can I have multiple Gmail accounts?

Yes. Google treats each as a separate account. Keep them separate when a different employer, client or purpose owns the account.

Is Gmailify a way to combine accounts?

It was. Gmailify, POP fetching and Send-as for non-Google addresses end in January 2027; new setups already stopped in early 2026.

What does five Gmail accounts cost?

Solo covers five mailboxes for $19 a month, or $15 billed yearly. A sixth is $3 a month.

Nothing sends itself

Connect the two Gmails you check most.

Fourteen days, no card. If two feel like one by the end of the week, the other three take a minute each.
