What the desktop app adds
The desktop build is the same inbox as the web app with a local cache in front of it. Mail you've already synced opens instantly and stays readable on a dead connection; anything you archive, label or draft offline queues up and sends itself the moment you're back online. Native notifications fire per account, so a thread that needs a reply reaches you without a browser tab open, and the app updates itself in the background — no reinstalling to get the next version.
Which mailboxes it works with
Every account you can connect on the web works here too, in any mix: Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 through their own consent screens, plus hosted IMAP — Fastmail, iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, GMX, Web.de, Zoho, Yandex and Mail.com — with an app password you generate in their settings. Proton isn't supported directly; it needs Proton Bridge, which runs only on your own machine. Custom or self-hosted IMAP servers aren't self-serve — write to us and we'll tell you whether we can enable yours.
Connect them once from any device and they're on every other one after a single sign-in — no per-device re-authorization, no forwarding rules, no migration. Triage, Ask Zero, Sweeps, rules and the calendar all read across the whole set rather than one account at a time.
