Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel

Paste the command into Terminal: it installs the app with no Gatekeeper prompt. The .dmg is the same build, but it isn't notarised yet, so macOS blocks its first launch until you allow it under System Settings, Privacy & Security.

The Microsoft Store installs updates for you. The direct installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a notice: click More info, then Run anyway.

64-bit. apt repository for Debian and Ubuntu, AppImage for the rest

Paste the command into a terminal. On Debian and Ubuntu it adds our signed apt repository, so updates arrive with your system updates; elsewhere it installs the AppImage, which updates itself.

The one-line installer runs these steps for you. To run them yourself on Debian, Ubuntu, Mint or Pop!_OS, add the signing key and the repository, then install the package:

The key’s fingerprint is 075E 8EC9 3063 3D03 480F C8A0 D514 5F30 3EFB 593B. From then on sudo apt upgrade keeps MorningZero current. To remove it, run sudo apt remove morning-zero, which also removes the repository entry.

What the desktop app adds

A mirror of the last month of mail, on disk. Threads you’ve synced open instantly and stay readable with no connection; anything you archive, label or write offline queues in an outbox and goes out when you’re back online. Native notifications per account, so a thread that needs a reply reaches you without a browser tab open. Updates are offered, not installed behind you. Which mailboxes it works with

Every account you can connect on the web, in any mix: Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 through their own consent screens, and Fastmail, iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, GMX, Web.de, Zoho, Yandex and Mail.com with an app password you generate in their settings. Proton isn’t supported: Proton Bridge runs only on your own machine. Custom or self-hosted IMAP servers aren’t self-serve; Enterprise customers can ask us to evaluate one. Connect guides.
