eM Client pricing in 2026: when the $74.95 one-time license beats the subscription
eM Client pricing for one person is $49.95 a year or $74.95 once for the Personal license. Both give you unlimited email accounts on up to three Windows or Mac devices. The one-time license becomes cheaper during year two. The catch is that it covers eM Client 11 only. Version 12 will cost extra.
MorningZero is an AI email client that unifies Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo and IMAP inboxes. People weighing a desktop client like eM Client often look at us too, so we keep this cost model current.

eM Client prices at a glance
| License | Yearly subscription | One-time payment | Who it is for | Accounts | Devices |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Home use | 2 | 1 |
| Personal | $49.95 | $74.95 | Home use, freelancers, sole traders | Unlimited | Up to 3 |
| Business (10 devices) | $250.95 | $382.95 | Companies and institutions | Unlimited | 1 per license |
The Personal subscription also includes eM Client’s AI Add-on, which the pricing page values at $30. The one-time Personal license does not include it.
Both paid licenses come with a 30-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The Android and iOS apps are free and need no license.
The one-time license pays for itself in year two
The number of mailboxes doesn’t change the price. Six inboxes cost the same as one. What matters is how long you keep the app and whether you want each new major version.
| What you buy | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 | Year 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subscription | $49.95 | $99.90 | $149.85 | $249.75 |
| One-time, stay on version 11 | $74.95 | $74.95 | $74.95 | $74.95 |
| One-time + one upgrade at $44.95 | $74.95 | $74.95 | $119.90 | $119.90 |
| One-time + two upgrades | $74.95 | $74.95 | $119.90 | $164.85 |
| One-time + Lifetime Upgrades (from $105) | $179.95 | $179.95 | $179.95 | $179.95 |
Over five years, the one-time license stays cheaper than the subscription even with three paid upgrades ($209.80). A fourth would tip it over.
Upgrade prices are a guess. $44.95 is today’s starting price to upgrade an older license to eM Client 11. Nobody knows what version 12 will cost or when it will ship. Read the table as scenarios, not a forecast.
What “one-time” covers
A one-time license is permanent, but only for one major version. eM Client’s licensing page gives the example directly: a license bought now covers eM Client 11 and its updates (11.1, 11.2 and so on), but not a future eM Client 12 or 13.
When version 12 arrives you have three choices:
- Keep using version 11. It doesn’t stop working.
- Buy a one-off upgrade (today’s upgrade to version 11 starts at $44.95).
- Add Lifetime Upgrades when you buy, from $105, to get every future major version.
The subscription works the other way round. You always get the newest major version while you pay. If you stop, the desktop app drops to offline mode until you renew.
Lifetime Upgrades pay off after about four years
One-time plus Lifetime Upgrades costs from $179.95. The subscription passes that during year four ($199.80). So if you expect to use eM Client for four years or more and always want the latest version, the lifetime bundle is the cheapest route.
Two cautions. The $105 is a “from” price, and the checkout amount depends on your license and device count. And unlike the subscription, the bundle does not include the AI Add-on.
Support runs on a separate clock
Subscription licenses include VIP Support while active. One-time licenses include the first year of VIP Support. After that you pay for a VIP Support extension if you want help from eM Client’s support team. The app keeps working either way.
If you rarely contact support, ignore this. If you do, add the extension to the one-time column before you compare.
Personal or Business: it depends on who you work for
eM Client says the Personal license is for home use and for freelancers or sole proprietors. It cannot be used inside a company, school, non-profit or government body, even by an employee on their own laptop. Those cases need Business.
Business is priced per device, not per mailbox, and gets cheaper in bulk. At the default of 10 devices it was $250.95 a year ($25.10 a device) or $382.95 one-time ($38.30 a device). Business also includes the License Manager for controlling every installation.
The Free license is for home use only: two accounts, one device, community forum support. A freelancer with client mailboxes needs Personal.

When to pick which
Pick the one-time license if:
- you work alone or freelance, on three devices or fewer
- you’re happy on eM Client 11 for a few years
- you don’t need the AI Add-on or year-round support
Pick the subscription if you want every new version and the AI Add-on included, and you’d rather not decide on each upgrade.
Pick one-time plus Lifetime Upgrades if you’ll use eM Client for four years or more and want every version without a yearly bill.
Pick Free only for personal mail: two accounts, one device, no work use.
A desktop client or an AI inbox?
eM Client is a full desktop email app with calendar, contacts, tasks, encryption and rules, and the paid license takes unlimited accounts. For a lot of people that is the whole job, and it can be cheaper for years than any subscription, including ours.
MorningZero solves a different problem: sorting mail across Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo and IMAP accounts before you open it, with a reason on every row. Solo is $19 a month, or $15 billed yearly, for 5 mailboxes. Stack is $29, or $23 billed yearly, for 15. Over five years Solo on yearly billing costs $900, twelve times eM Client’s one-time price. That only makes sense if AI triage saves you real time each day.
It also has limits. MorningZero has no iPhone app, and it doesn’t replace a desktop client’s offline mailbox or encryption tools. Our cost-per-mailbox comparison of 14 email apps includes the free and one-time options.

Frequently asked
How much does eM Client cost?
eM Client Personal costs $49.95 a year as a subscription or $74.95 as a one-time payment. Both cover one person on up to three Windows or Mac devices with unlimited email accounts. Business is priced per device; at 10 devices it was $250.95 a year or $382.95 one-time. US prices checked 5 November 2026.
Is the eM Client one-time license a lifetime license?
It never expires, but it only covers the major version you buy. A one-time license bought today covers eM Client 11 and its updates such as 11.1 and 11.2. eM Client 12 would need a paid upgrade unless you add Lifetime Upgrades, which start at $105.
Does eM Client charge per email account?
No. Personal and Business licenses include unlimited email accounts. Only the Free license is limited, to two accounts on one device for home use.
When is the one-time license cheaper than the subscription?
From the second year. Two years of subscription cost $99.90, against $74.95 once. Over five years the subscription costs $249.75, so the one-time license stays cheaper even if you pay for three major-version upgrades at today's $44.95 starting price.
What happens if my eM Client subscription ends?
eM Client says the desktop app then works only in offline mode until you renew or activate another valid license. A one-time license for the version you bought does not expire.
